Czechia forfeited its game Wednesday against Finland at the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship after one Czechia player tested positive for COVID-19.

The game in Group A in the preliminary round was to be played at Rogers Place in Edmonton.
The result will be a 1-0 win for Finland (3-0-0-0), according to IIHF rules.
"It is a very difficult situation for all of us," Czechia coach Karel Mlejnek said. "The players were already tactically prepared and ready for to the game against Finland, but after we received the information in the morning, we immediately reacted, changed the program and we are now 100 percent focused on the game against Austria."
Czechia (0-0-1-2) is scheduled to play Austria (0-0-0-2) on Thursday (4:30 p.m. ET; NHLN, TSN, RDS). Czechia has entered quarantine and a determination on that game has not yet been made, according to the IIHF.
"Austria played three games here in Canada, so we have enough material to prepare the game plan," Mlejnek said. "We believe that all our next PCR tests will be negative and that tomorrow we will be able to start the game with Austria."
The IIHF also announced as part of enhanced COVID-19 protocols, all on-ice game officials will be required to wear masks until further notice.
The United States forfeited its game against Switzerland on Tuesday and entered quarantine after two players tested positive for COVID-19. It is scheduled to play Sweden in a Group B game at WP Centrium in Red Deer, Alberta, on Wednesday (9:30 p.m. ET; NHLN, TSN, RDS). A determination on the status of that game will be made later.
The other Group A game scheduled for Wednesday is Canada against Germany (7 p.m. ET; NHLN, TSN, RDS). Slovakia is scheduled to play Russia in a Group B game (4:30 p.m. ET; NHLN, TSN, RDS).
