Rob Davison New York Islanders

You can't teach 200-foot goals, but the new Toronto Marlies assistant coach might want to try.

The Toronto Marlies, the American Hockey League affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs, just hired former NHL player Rob Davison as an assistant.
Davison played eight seasons in the NHL, five with the San Jose Sharks who drafted him in 1988. But it was a goal he scored while playing for the Islanders that comes to mind first when recalling his playing days.
Davison, playing against the very Maple Leafs franchise that hired him back during the 2007-08 season, simply was trying to clear the puck while killing a penalty. His shot, however, had different ideas.

The long clear bounced and bounced and bounced down the ice toward goalie Vesa Toskala, then took a wild hop right over his glove hand.
It was Davison's first and only goal in his 19-game stint with the Islanders.
Maybe this old clip can be a lesson to the young Marlies.
