Taylor Hall of the Windsor Spitfires named OHL player of the week @NHLdotcom

Windsor Spitfires left-winger Taylor Hall was named Ontario Hockey League player of the week Monday.

Hall had nine points (four goals, five assists) in three games last week.

The 16-year-old from Kingston, Ont., currently leads the OHL in scoring with 28 points (11-17) in 16 games.

Spitfires centre Adam Henrique, right-winger Bryan Cameron of the Belleville Bulls and goaltender Jason Guy of the London Knights were also considered.


Kelowna Rockets forward Jamie Benn named WHL player of week

CALGARY - Forward Jamie Benn of the Kelowna Rockets was named Western Hockey League player of the week Monday.

He had nine points (5-4) in three games last week.

The 19-year-old Victoria native is in second season with the Rockets. He was selected in the fifth round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft by the Dallas Stars.

The WHL also nominated Kelowna's Adam Brown for the Canadian Hockey League goaltender of the week award. Brown had two victories last week with two shutouts.


Rocket forward Doyle named QMJHL offensive player of week

BOUCHERVILLE, Que. - P.E.I. Rocket forward Chris Doyle was named Quebec Major Junior Hockey League player of the week Monday.

He had eight points (2-6) in four games last week.

Right-winger Yannick Riendeau of the Drummondville Voltigeurs, right-winger Sasha Famin of the Moncton Wildcats and right-winger Matthew Pistilli of the Shawinigan Cataractes were also considered.

Moncton Wildcats netminder Nicola Riopel was named defensive player of the week.

He posted three victories last week with a 1.00 goals-against average, one shutout and .971 save percentage.

Moncton's Brandon Gormley, Shawinigan's Charles-Olivier Roussel and Vincent Bourgeois of the Montreal Juniors were also considered.


Quad City goalie Keetley named AHL player of week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Quad City Flames goaltender Matt Keetley was named American Hockey League player of the week Monday.

He helped the Flames record a pair of road victories last week.

Keetley made 27 saves in a 3-1 win over the Toronto Marlies last Saturday. A day later, he recorded 32 saves for the shutout in a 2-0 victory over the Hamilton Bulldogs.
