center John Tavares
left Saturday night's game against Dallas with a concussion after a collision with Stars forward Adam Burish
late in the first period.
Tavares was backskating near his own blue line when Burish collided with him. He went down immediately, was helped off the ice and did not return. The Islanders announced after the second period that Tavares had sustained a mild concussion and would be evaluated on Monday. The Islanders host the New York Rangers
on Monday afternoon.
The 20-year-old center led the Islanders in scoring last season with 54 points and was second with 24 goals. He was the first player taken in the 2009 Entry Draft.
