Tavares has two goals, adds assist as Knights hammer Rangers 7-1 @NHLdotcom

LONDON, Ont. - John Tavares had two goals and an assist as the London Knights beat the Kitchener Rangers 7-1 in Ontario Hockey League action Thursday.

Tavares leads the OHL with 97 points. John Carlson had a goal and two assists for London (45-16-1-2), while Nazem Kadri, Leigh Salters, Matt Clarke and Daniel Erlich also scored. Michael Del Zotto added three assists.

Julian Cimadamore had the only goal for Kitchener (24-34-3-2).

Trevor Cann made 25 saves for London, while Parker Van Buskirk stopped 35 shots for Kitchener.

With the loss, the Rangers were eliminated from OHL playoff contention.

"It's no fun being in ninth place," Van Buskirk told the Waterloo Region Record after the game. "It's no fun having to go home after 68 (games)."
