Tavares and Carlson lead Knights over Spirit 5-3; sweep semifinal series @NHLdotcom

SAGINAW, Mich. - John Tavares had a goal and an assist and John Carlson a goal and two assist as the London Knights ended the Saginaw Spirit's season with a 5-3 win, sweeping the Western conference semifinal in four games on Tuesday.

The Knights blew a 2-0 lead, but came rallied back with three unanswered goals from Nazem Kadri, Daniel Erlich and Jared Knight.

Jack Combs, with a goal and an assist, Kyle Bochek and Joe Pleckaitis tallied for the Spirit, who were out shot 34-18.

Tyler Murovich added two assist, while Trevor Cann had an easy night with 15 saves for the Knights.

Edward Pasquale, who made 29 saves, had to contend with a relentless London attack who beat the Spirit with their puck control, precision passsing and speed.

The Knights await the winner of the Plymouth-Windsor series for the Western Conference finals.

Tavares was named first star and Carlson the third star.
