BARRIE, Ont. - Tanner Pearson had two goals and an assist as the Barrie Colts knocked off the Owen Sound Attack 5-3 in Ontario Hockey League action Thursday night.
Mark Scheifele had a pair of goals for Barrie (16-10-3), while Steven Beyers had the other score.
Daniel Catenacci replied with two goals for Owen Sound (15-13-4), which failed to pick up a point in a road contest for the first time in over a month. Daniel Zweep scored the other goal for the Attack.
This was Barrie's first win against Owen Sound in its last 11 meetings. The last time the Colts beat the Attack was Dec. 9, 2009, 730 days ago.
Pearson, who along with Scheifele will attend the evaluation camp for Canada's World Junior Championship team, now leads the league with 63 points. He has registered either a goal or an assist in 16 straight games.
Barrie found success on the man advantage, going 2-for-10 and adding a short-handed goal. Owen Sound finished the night at 0-for-8.
Colts goaltender Clint Windsor turned aside 20 shots.
Jordan Binnington made 24 saves for Owen Sound.
