BRAMPTON, Ont. - Tanner Pearson continued his torrid start to the season by scoring all of Barrie's goals Friday as the Colts defeated the Brampton Battalion 3-1 in Ontario Hockey League action.
Colin Behenna picked up three assists for Barrie (2-0-0), while Mathias Niederberger made 33 saves for the win.
Ian Watters had the only goal for Brampton (0-1-0), which got 17 saves from Matej Machovsky.
Down 1-0 after the first, the Colts tied the game with a short-handed goal 35 seconds into the second when Pearson redirected a Behenna feed past Machovsky.
Pearson added his second of the night on the power play at 3:54 and completed the hat trick on an empty netter with four seconds left in the third.
"It's a credit to my linemates," said Pearson, who has five goals and three assists in two games to start the season. "We are prepared to play each game and so far it's been working out."
The Battalion opened the scoring 14:45 into the game when Watters deflected Marcus Mcivor's point shot past Mathias Niederberger.
Barrie finished 1-for-3 on the power play, while Brampton wound up 0-for-3.
