PHILADELPHIA -- Victor Hedman missed the Tampa Bay Lightning's 5-2 win at the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday because of a lower-body injury.

The defenseman was injured during the first period of a 5-1 win at the Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday, but Tampa Bay coach Jon Cooper said he expected Hedman to be out "extremely short term." The Lightning will play the Buffalo Sabres at home Thursday.

Hedman leads Tampa Bay defensemen with 37 points (seven goals, 30 assists) in 53 games and is averaging a Tampa Bay-high 22:26 of ice time.

Defenseman Anton Stralman, who was scratched Monday, replaced Hedman against the Flyers. The Lightning also recalled defenseman Jan Rutta from Syracuse of the American Hockey League and sent forward Mathieu Joseph to the AHL.

Tampa Bay (46-11-4) has won seven in a row and is 18 points ahead of the Boston Bruins for first place in the Eastern Conference.
