LIGHTNING (13-5-1) at FLYERS (9-9-1)

The Game

Calvin Pickard will start for the Philadelphia Flyers when they host the Tampa Bay Lightning at Wells Fargo Center on Saturday.

Pickard will start in place of Brian Elliott, who was injured in a 3-0 loss to the New Jersey Devils on Thursday.

Philadelphia, which has one goal in its past two games (0-2-0), will try to avoid a third straight loss.

Goalie Louis Domingue likely will make his third straight start for the Lightning in place of the injured Andrei Vasilevskiy.

Tampa Bay will try for its sixth win in eight games after defeating the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-3 on Thursday.

Players to watch

Lightning forward Brayden Point scored three goals in 91 seconds on Thursday for his first NHL hat trick. It was the second-fastest natural hat trick in the expansion era (since 1967-68) behind Derek King who did it in 78 seconds for the New York Islanders on Oct. 15, 1991.

Flyers forward Claude Giroux has 11 points (four goals, seven assists) in his past eight games, and is one point from 700 in the NHL.

They said it

"Every team needs capable backups. We feel we have one. He's been a starter in this league before and he's done nothing but impress ever since he's been here. So we're going to need him now, obviously, and we'll see how it goes." -- Lightning coach Jon Cooper, on goalie Louis Domingue

"We picked Calvin (Pickard) up because we believe in him. We also believe that Alex (Lyon) is pretty close. They're going to have a chance here and we'll see how it goes." -- Flyers general manager Ron Hextall, on Philadelphia's goaltending issues
