TBL@CHI: DeBrincat snipes his 100th career NHL goal

CHICAGO -- Alex DeBrincat scored his 100th and 101st NHL goals for the Chicago Blackhawks in a 4-3 shootout win against the Tampa Bay Lightning at United Center on Friday.

Malcolm Subban made 39 saves through overtime and three in the shootout for the Blackhawks (13-7-5), who lost 3-2 in overtime to the Lightning on Thursday. Philipp Kurashev scored the only goal in the shootout.
"It's fun to win those," Subban said. "Obviously, they're a good team and they've got some good shooters. I'm happy that we could pull it out because they've got some players that can put the puck in the net."

Alex Killorn had a goal and an assist, and Curtis McElhinney made 24 saves for the Lightning (16-4-2), who lost for the first time in seven games. The six-game winning streak matched Tampa Bay's longest this season (Jan. 30-Feb. 9).
"I'd say for two-thirds of the game last night they were better than us," Lightning coach Jon Cooper said. "So it's probably worked out the way it should've in reverse order, but we did a lot of good things tonight. We can't hang our heads. A couple of mistakes were made … but for the most part, I liked our game."
The teams are scheduled to conclude a three-game series here Sunday.
"We didn't really play that well, but we're happy we just found a way," Blackhawks coach Jeremy Colliton said. "That's what good teams do. That's what they did the night before. We probably deserved to win; they probably deserved tonight. But we stayed with it, stayed in it, found a way to survive. So we end up with two [points]."
Ryan McDonagh gave Tampa Bay a 3-2 lead at 3:20 of the third period when he scored off Killorn's rebound, but Dominik Kubalik picked up a loose puck in front to tie it 3-3 at 6:00.

TBL@CHI: McDonagh puts home a Killorn rebound

Anthony Cirelli scored on the rebound of Brayden Point's shot from the right face-off circle to give the Lightning a 1-0 lead at 2:51 of the first period.
Killorn made it 2-0 at 10:27 when he deflected Victor Hedman's shot from the point for a power-play goal.
DeBrincat cut it to 2-1 at 12:57 when he scored on the power play with a wrist shot from the left circle.
Tampa Bay killed 18 straight penalties in its previous five games.
DeBrincat scored his second of the game on a one-timer at the bottom of the right circle to tie it 2-2 at 7:18 of the second period.
"Going into the game, I knew I had 99 [goals]," DeBrincat said. "It's a good feeling to get that one and then another one. Teammates are making good plays to pass me the puck, and I'm lucky for them to go in."
DeBrincat has six goals and six assists during an eight-game point streak, tied with Philadelphia Flyers forward Sean Couturier for the longest active streak in the NHL.

The Blackhawks killed Duncan Keith's slashing penalty with 1:56 remaining in overtime.
"Some unbelievable blocks by our guys [on the penalty kill]," Subban said. "I think the boys flexed out and [were] willing to block shots. Just the willingness to block shots there is unbelievable and goes a long way. If you want to win and continue to win, you've got to block shots like that. It helps me out a lot; it helps the goalies out a lot."
McElhinney made the save against Patrick Kane on a breakaway 28 seconds into overtime, then Subban made the save against Point on a breakaway 13 seconds later.
Kane and Adam Boqvist each had two assists for Chicago, which is 4-1-1 in its past six games. Ondrej Palat had two assists for Tampa Bay.
"We have to continue to try and stay out of the penalty box," McDonagh said of Tampa Bay's five penalties. "We've had a good run on the [penalty kill], but you give a team like this, I think they have the No. 1 power play (No. 2, behind Toronto Maple Leafs), enough looks, it can change the momentum of a game. I think that's one area we can get better at and be disciplined [at], it's staying out the box. This is a tough challenge, we have one more crack at them in a couple days, and it should be a good one again."
NOTES: Lightning defenseman Jan Rutta was a late scratch with an upper-body injury. He is day to day. … Blackhawks defenseman Calvin de Haan left the game at 2:43 of the third period after he blocked Palat's shot. … Boqvist has three multiassist games in his past five.
