It was a pregame ceremony befitting of the NHL's best team.

The Tampa Bay Lightning were presented the Presidents' Trophy for the first time in their history. NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly handed the hardware over to captain Steven Stamkos before a game against the Washington Capitals at Amalie Arena Saturday night.
"The guys have [122] points and that's a trophy that is handed out to a team that does really well in the regular season and the boys embraced it. I thought it was great," Lightning coach Jon Cooper said.
But things were just getting started.
A special video was played for Stamkos, who became the team's all-time leader in goals on March 18.

Stamkos was given a silver stick and Vincent Lecavalier, a former teammate and the man whose record Stamkos broke, was in attendance. Lecavalier and team owner Jeff Vinik gave Stamkos the gift at center ice before the Capitals' 6-3 victory.
"The stick presentation with Vinny and Jeff was great," Cooper said. "All around, aside from the final score of the game, there was a lot to be celebrated tonight. It's a tough way to go out that way, you'd like to win the game, but you have to be pretty proud of the guys for earning that."
