TBL@CGY: Miller beats Rittich to seal SO win

CALGARY --The Tampa Bay Lightning extended their point streak to 11 games in a 5-4 shootout win against the Calgary Flames at Scotiabank Saddledome on Thursday.

Ondrej Palat, Steven Stamkos, Alex Killorn and Dan Girardi scored for Tampa Bay (27-7-2), which is 10-0-1 in its past 11 games and 15-2-1 in the past 18. Louis Domingue made 33 saves, including seven in overtime, to win his seventh consecutive start.

It's the fourth time in Lightning history they have recorded a point streak of at least 11 games (2003-04, 14-0-4; 2002-03, 7-0-6; 2013-14, 7-0-4).

"We're such a strong team," Domingue said. "You know that at the end of the night it's going to come up to one save and we're going to have a chance to win the game. Again tonight, the guys showed up offensively. It's great to see."

Johnny Gaudreau and Sam Bennett each had a goal and an assist, and David Rittich made 32 saves for Calgary (22-11-3), which has lost two straight.

"I think we knew we could play with any team in the League just the way we've been playing throughout the season here," Gaudreau said. "Obviously, it was a good test for us. This teams had most teams by a pretty good margin, so great test for us. It was a good game for us."

J.T. Miller scored glove side in the seventh round of the shootout after Domingue made a pad save on Mark Jankowski.

"We have so much confidence in [Domingue]," Stamkos said. "Came up huge. He was unbelievable in overtime and unbelievable in the shootout. He gave us a chance to get that extra point, which is huge right now."

Gaudreau scored five-hole with a backhand on a breakaway to tie it 4-4 with 2:28 remaining in regulation.

"I found a way to tie it up and we played really well in overtime," Gaudreau said. "I thought we had a lot, a lot of really good looks, all three pairs or trios. It's unfortunate, but it was a good game. I'm sure it was entertaining for the fans and it was fun to play in that game. A lot of excitement and hopefully we get them back in Tampa (Feb. 12)."

"There's nothing you can do but try to work yourself out of it when things aren't going well," Stamkos said. "We're not a team that is going to bury our heads and quit. We came in here after the first. It's not the standard that we play with in here. We found a way to turn it around."

Stamkos, who was playing in his 700th NHL game, cut it to 3-2 at 3:19 of the second period, and Killorn tied it 3-3 at 5:52 on a rebound in the crease.

They said it

"It's two good teams going at each other. They're a good offensive team at home. They've been scoring a lot of goals. We knew that coming into the game that it was going to be a tough one. They showed up in the first, and it was good to see the guys scoring goals in the second. For me, personally, I knew that was going to happen because that was kind of the roll we're on right now." -- Lightning goaltender Louis Domingue

"It was a fun game. It would be a lot more fun if we got the win, but it was an exciting game when you have two of the best teams going up against each other." -- Flames forward Sam Bennett
