Szydlowski's overtime winner propels Erie to 6-5 win over Kingston
NHL.com @NHLdotcomKINGSTON, Ont. - Shawn Szydlowski scored at 2:09 of overtime as the Erie Otters earned a thrilling 6-5 win over the Kingston Frontenacs on Friday night in the Ontario Hockey League.
The Otters (23-21-2-0) appeared to have the game won in regulation, scoring four unanswered goals in the third period to take a 5-4 lead. The Frontenacs (9-30-5-3) rallied to force extra time on Bobby Mignardi's goal with 31 seconds left in regulation and the Kingston net empty.
Zack Torquato paced the Erie attack with a pair of goals, while Ryan O'Reilly, Andrew Yogan and Greg McKegg added singles.
Erik Gudbranson had a goal and two assists to lead the Frontenacs, while Corbin Crawford, James Marsden and Jesse Brown also scored.
Jaroslav Janus stopped 36 shots to earn the win for the Otters.
John Cullen made 23 saves in defeat for Kingston.
