CRANBROOK, B.C. - Dustin Sylvester scored a short-handed breakaway goal with four minutes remaining to lift the Kootenay Ice over the Medicine Hat Tigers 4-2 in Western Hockey League action Friday night.

The goal was Sylvester's league-leading fourth short-handed marker this season. Kootenay scored three times in the third period after falling behind eight seconds into the game on a goal by Medicine Hat's Wacey Hamilton. It was the quickest any Ice opponent has ever scored to start a game.

Dominik Pacovsky tied the game for Kootenay (10-6-2-3) late in the second period. Kevin King and Michael Stickland also scored for the Ice.

Bretton Cameron had the other goal for the Tigers (7-5-2-2).

Thomas Heemskerk made 21 saves for Kootenay, while Medicine Hat netminder Ryan Holfeld stopped 26 shots.
