by NHL.com Staff

Goaltender Jonas Johansson, a third-round pick (No. 61) of the Buffalo Sabres in the 2014 NHL Draft, will not participate in the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship as a result of an illness, according to the Swedish Hockey Federation.

Sweden will add goalie Fredrik Bergvik (San Jose Sharks) as a replacement for Johansson.

The 19-year-old Johansson was the third goaltender for Sweden in its run to the silver medal at the 2014 WJC in Malmo, Sweden. He has been diagnosed with a bacterial throat infection.
