Sutter, Gleason to wear 'A's' in Carolina @NHL
The Carolina Hurricanes completed their leadership group Thursday, naming defenseman Tim Gleason and center Brandon Sutter alternate captains. They join team captain Eric Staal, who took over that role in January.

"Tim and Brandon certainly have earned the distinction of wearing the alternate captain's letter on their jerseys," Carolina GM Jim Rutherford said. "They lead the Hurricanes on the ice, and have presence in the locker room that is respected."

Last season Gleason, 27, posted a personal-best 5 goals, and his 149 hits were second among Carolina defensemen. He also posted a plus-3 rating in six games to help the U.S. win a silver medal at the Olympics.

Sutter, 21, started last season in the AHL, but finished with 21 goals and 40 points in 72 games. He also had just two penalty minutes, becoming the first player since Sergei Berezin in 1999-2000 to score at least 20 goals with just two penalty minutes.
