Super-long shifts have big impact for Predators, Ducks

The two games Sunday may have ended in regulation but at least a few lines were working overtime.

Each Western Conference Second Round game featured a super-long shift for the home team, with very different results at the end of the play and the end of the game.
The Nashville Predators, holding on to a 2-1 lead in Game 3, used incredible patience and pretty passing to keep the puck in the St. Louis Blues zone for 1:24 until defenseman Roman Josi sniped one from the point to beat goalie Jake Allen.
"No, this is not a power play, although it looks like one," announcer Kenny Albert said as the Predators dominated the action.

Josi's goal was the final one scored in the Predators 3-1 win.
Not to be outdone, the Edmonton Oilers put the Anaheim Ducks on their heels, spending 1:46 in the Anaheim zone before a delayed penalty was called.
The Ducks escaped the epic shift without allowing a goal and left Rogers Place with a win.
"There was a similar shift if you watched the Nashville game this afternoon in St. Louis, a minute and 45 seconds in that St. Louis zone," Ducks coach Randy Carlyle said. "That's what it felt like to us. It was very similar. We just didn't give up the goal."
Ducks goalie John Gibson was bent over in the crease after the play ended.
"Trust me," Gibson said. "I think we all felt it after that."
