Sunday's WHL Roundup @NHLdotcom

The new year has been very good to the Everett Silvertips so far.

Kellan Tochkin scored twice as the Silvertips stretched their winning streak to 12 games, defeating the Spokane Chiefs 3-2 Sunday night in Western Hockey League action.

Shane Harper also scored for the Silvertips (31-16-3), who have yet to lose in 2010. Harper has scored in eight games during the winning streak.

Kent Simpson had a strong game in goal for Everett, making 34 saves.

Elsewhere in the WHL it was Calgary 6 Lethbridge 2; Medicine Hat 2 Edmonton 1; and Portland 3 Vancouver 1. Kootenay at Regina was postponed due to poor weather.

At Everett,Wash., Mitch Holmberg and Levko Koper scored for Spokane (27-17-4). Chiefs goalie James Reid allowed three goals on 12 shots before being pulled late in the first period. Michael Tadjdeh stopped all 18 shots he faced in relief.

Hitmen 6 Hurricanes 2

At Calgary, Misha Fisenko scored a hat trick to lead the Hitmen to a win over Lethbridge.

Joel Broda had a goal and an assist for the Hitmen (31-15-2), while Del Cowan and Jimmy Bubnick also scored.

Cam Braes and Austin Fyten had markers for the Hurricanes (15-26-5).


Tigers 2 Oil Kings 1

At Edmonton, Tristan King scored the winning goal as Medicine Hat downed the Oil Kings.

Wacey Hamilton also scored for the Tigers (29-15-8), who moved one point behind the idle Brandon Wheat Kings for third place in the Eastern Conference.

Adrian Van de Mosselaer scored for Edmonton (10-30-11) which is winless in its last 14 games (0-11-3).


Portland 3 Vancouver 1

At Portland, Ore., Ian Curtis stopped 51 shots to lead the Winterhawks over Vancouver Giants.

Oliver Gabriel and Tayler Jordan scored for Portland (30-19-2) while Luke Walker added a late empty-net goal in the third period.

Craig Cunningham scored for the Giants (29-19-3).
