Sunday's WHL Roundup @NHL

Martin Jones and the Calgary Hitmen remained nearly unbeatable at the Pengrowth Saddledome.

Jones stopped all 24 shots he faced to lead the Hitmen to a 4-0 win over the Moose Jaw Warriors in Western Hockey League action Sunday afternoon. It was the third shutout of the season for Jones as he improved his record to an impressive 22-3-2.

In other WHL action, it was: Kamloops 7 Prince George 1; Swift Current 7 Regina 1; Spokane 4 Seattle 0; Tri-City 4 Portland 3; Red Deer 3 Kootenay 2 (SO); Edmonton 2 Lethbridge 1; and Everett 3 Chilliwack 1.

At Calgary, Bostjan Golicic and Jason MacDonald each had a goal and an assist for the Hitmen (33-5-1-1), who won their eighth straight game and 13th in a row at home to improve to 19-1 at the Pengrowth Saddledome. Paul Postma also scored, while Brandon Kozun and Kyle Bortis chipped in with two assists each.

Moose Jaw netminder Deven Dubyk made 26 saves in a losing cause for Moose Jaw (11-24-0-1).

Blazers 7 Cougars 1

At Kamloops, B.C., Right-winger Tyler Shattock scored two goals and set up three others to lead the Blazers to a rout of Prince George.

Kenton Dulle, Brandon Underwood, Linden Saip, Scott Wasden and Giffen Nyren also scored for Kamloops (15-19-1-4).

Justin Maylan had the lone goal for the Cougars (14-23-0-1).


Broncos 7 Pats 1

At Swift Current, Sask., Cody Eakin and Jan Dalecky each had two goals and an assist in the Broncos' win over visiting Regina.

The Broncos (23-15-0-1) also had goals from Dillon Wagner, Jordan Peddle and Matt Tassone.

Tomas Hricina had the only goal for Regina (19-16-1-4).


Chiefs 4 Thunderbirds 0

At Seattle, Spokane Chiefs scored three power-play goals on five opportunities to beat the Thunderbirds.

Trevor Glass, Kenton Miller, Stefan Ulmer and Jared Spurgeon scored for Spokane (22-11-0-3).

Seattle (14-19-1-2) lost for the second straight game.


Americans 4 Winter Hawks 3

At Portland, Ore., Taylor Procyshen scored twice on the power play as Tri City defeated the Winter Hawks.

Jason Reese and Johnny Lazo also scored for Tri City (24-9-0-2).

Luke Walker, Chris Francis and Stefan Schneider replied for Portland (9-25-1).


Rebels 3 Ice 2 (SO)

At Cranbrook, B.C., Cody Gross scored the shootout winner as Red Deer edged Kootenay.

Landon Ferraro and Colin Archer scored in regulation for Red Deer (15-19-0-5).

Jesse Ismond and Michael Stickland replied for Kootenay (19-14-2-4).


Oil Kings 2 Hurricanes 1

At Lethbridge, Alta., Edmonton goalie Torrie Jung made 30 saves as the Oil Kings beat the Hurricanes.

Brad Raedeke and Brandon Lockerby scored for the Oil Kings (16-19-2-4).

Ben Wright scored the lone goal for Lethbridge (20-16-0-2).


Silvertips 3 Bruins 1

At Chilliwack, B.C., Byron Froese scored a pair of goals to lead Everett over the Bruins.

Kyle Beach also scored for Everett (16-14-5-0).

Dylen McKinlay replied for Chilliwack (11-23-2-2).
