Sunday's WHL Roundup @NHLdotcom

Brandon Kozun scored and added an assist to lead the Calgary Hitmen to a 4-1 win over the Brandon Wheat Kings in Western Hockey League action Sunday night.

Kozun's game-opening goal at 7:47 of the first period prompted the 18,105 fans at the Pengrowth Saddledome to littler the ice with 22,722 stuffed toys as part of the Hitmen's 14th annual Petro-Canada Teddy Bear Toss.

Brendan Rowinski, Brett Sonne and Ian Schultz also scored for the Hitmen (24-4-1-0), who skated to their 11th straight victory. Carson McMillan and Keith Seabrook each chipped in with a pair of assists.

Elsewhere in the WHL it was: Edmonton 5 Prince Albert 3; Lethbridge 5 Moose Jaw 2; and Saskatoon 7 Prince George 3.

At Calgary, Brayden Schenn scored the lone goal for the Wheat Kings (15-11-1-1), while Brandon netminder Andrew Hayes made 22 saves in a losing cause.

Calgary goalie Martin Jones stopped 25 of 26 shots fired his way to improve his record to 16-2-1.

Oil Kings 5 Raiders 3

At Edmonton, Brendan Dowd scored short-handed and on a power play as the Oil Kings extended their winning streak to four games with a victory over Prince Albert.

Brandon Lockerby scored the game-winner for Edmonton (12-14-1-3), while Tomas Vincour and Craig McCallum also scored.

Justin Bernhardt, Ryan McDonald and Jordan Rowley replied for Prince Albert (13-19-0-0).


Hurricanes 5 Warriors 2

At Lethbridge, Alta., Drew Hoff scored two goals as the Hurricanes beat Moose Jaw.

Colton Sceviour, Craig Orfina and Zach Boychuk also scored for Lethbridge (14-12-0-1).

Joel Broda had both goals for Moose Jaw (7-19-0-1).


Blades 7 Cougars 3

At Prince George, B.C., Darian Dziurzynski had a goal and two assists in the first period, leading Saskatoon over the Cougars.

Walker Wintoneak, with two, Milan Kytnar, Adam Chorneyko, Gaelan Patterson and Derek Hulak also scored for the Blades (19-7-2-0).

Justin Maylan, with two goals, and Dallas Jackson replied for the Cougars (10-18-0-1).
