Strong second period helps Niagara stay afloat with 5-4 win over Ottawa @NHLdotcom

ST. CATHARINES. Ont. - Johnson Andrews scored his first two Ontario Hockey League playoff goals as the Niagara IceDogs used a strong second period to stave off elimination in a 5-4 win over the Ottawa 67's Thursday night.

Ottawa leads the Eastern Conference quarter-final series 3-1. but missed the chance at a sweep when the IceDogs scored four straight goals in the second period to take a 5-3 lead.

Matt Petgrave. Michael Hasson. Andrews and Reggie Traccitto all scored in the second as Niagara outshot the 67's 12-5 in the period despite being outshot 36-27 in the game.

Mark Visentin made 32 saves for the IceDogs. while Alex Friesen added three assists to lead all Niagara players with seven playoff points (one goal. six assists).

Ottawa starter Chris Perugini was pulled midway through the game after allowing four goals on 15 shots. He was replaced by Petr Mrazek. who stopped 11 of 12.

Corey Cowick. Anthony Nigro. Tyler Toffoli and Marc Zanetti replied for Ottawa.
