Storm strike early on Menard's goal 16 seconds in, beat Wolves 5-2

SUDBURY, Ont. - Francis Menard set the tone with a goal 16 seconds into the game and the Guelph Storm beat the Sudbury Wolves 5-2 in Ontario Hockey League play Friday.

Cody McNaughton, Stephen Gaskin, Tyler Bertuzzi and Scott Kosmachuk also goals for the Storm (6-4-2).

Brody Silk and Kristoff Kontos scored for the Wolves (5-6-1).

Brandon Foote stopped 33 of 35 shots for the Storm.

Sudbury's Johan Mattsson stopped 15 of 19 shots before being relieved by Brendan O?Neill, who allowed one goal on eight shots.

After Menard got the Storm off to a quick start, McNaughton added a goal for the on the power play at 12:55 as he tipped the puck through Mattsson?s pads to give Guelph the two-goal lead.

Gaskin extended Guelph's lead to 3-0 after he unloaded a slapshot from the point that beat Mattsson at 4:50 in the second period.

Bertuzzi, nephew of NHL player Todd Bertuzzi, scored his first goal of the season at 12:21. The Wolves pulled Mattsson from the game in favour of O'Neill after that goal.

Brody Silk made it 4-1 at 17:53 after he backhanded the puck through Foote???s pads.

Kosmachuk made it 5-1 at 1:37 in the third period after he fired the puck over O???Neill???s glove on a breakaway. Kontos made it 5-2 on the power play at 14:04.

Guelph went 1-for-3 on the power play, while Sudbury went 2-for-5.
