SARNIA, Ont. - Justin DiBenedetto scored 23 seconds into overtime to negate a late rally by the Plymouth Whalers as the Sarnia Sting won 4-3 on Sunday night in the Ontario Hockey League.
Chris Terry tied the game for the Whalers with 31 seconds to go after Sarnia (8-7-1-1) took a 3-2 lead into the final minute of regulation thanks to third-period goals scored 59 seconds apart by Jamie Arniel and Michael Neal.
Arniel also scored in the first period and DiBenedetto added an assist for the Sting, who have won three straight.
A.J. Jenks and Vern Cooper replied for Plymouth (6-8-2-1).
Sarnia netminder Dan Spence made 31 saves to record the win, while Matt Hackett stopped 32 shots in a losing effort for the Whalers.
