Steven Stamkos registers hat trick in Sting's 5-3 win over Petes @NHLdotcom

PETERBOROUGH, Ont. - Steven Stamkos fired a hat trick to lead Sarnia Sting past Peterborough Petes 5-3 in Ontario Hockey League action Thursday.

Stamkos capped the win with an insurance marker into an empty net giving him four points along with an assist. The Sting (12-9-0-0) also got goals from Matt Martin and Harrison Reed.

Pat Daley, Branislav Rehus and Kenzie Sheppard scored for the Petes (9-10-0-1) who have lost eight of their last nine games.

Tomi Karhunen blocked 24 shots for the win while Jason Missiaen made 40 saves in a losing effort.
