Santini had three points (one goal, two assists) in seven games with Binghamton of the American Hockey League last season.

"We are excited to lock up Steven, a young, developing defenseman, for the next three seasons," Devils general manager Ray Shero said. "He provides size and a physical element that complements our existing defensive group moving forward."
Selected by the Devils in the second round (No. 42) of the 2013 NHL Draft, Santini has 17 points (four goals, 13 assists) in 75 NHL games. He will be a restricted free agent at the end of the contract.
Forward Miles Wood is New Jersey's only remaining restricted free agent.
