OSHAWA, Ont. - Steve Mason made 40 saves for his first shutout of the season as the London Knights won their fifth straight, blanking the Oshawa Generals 3-0 Sunday in Ontario Hockey League action.
It was Mason's fifth win in as many starts since being returned to the Knights from the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets. London (5-6-0-0) had lost its first six games without him.
Patrick Maroon scored twice for the Knights, the second into an empty net, giving him 12 goals this season. He leads all rookies on goals.
Kale Kerbashian scored what proved to be the winner 12:05 into the game.
Despite outshooting the Knights 40-20, the Generals had a four-game winning streak snapped and lost their first regulation home game of the season.
Maroon's empty-net goal was London's lone power-play goal in six attempts.
The Generals were 0-for-7 with the man advantage.
