Steve Mason makes 38 saves as Rangers blank Sting in OHL playoffs @NHLdotcom

KITCHENER, Ont. - Steve Mason came out on the winning end of a goaltending duel with Andrew Perugini and the Kitchener Rangers beat the Sarnia Sting 3-0 in Ontario hockey League playoff action Friday.

Mason made 38 saves as the Rangers took a 1-0 lead in the Western Conference semifinal.

At the other end of the ice, Perugini stopped 41 shots for Sarnia.

Mike Mascioli, T.J. Battani and Mike Duco scored for Kitchener, while Scott Timmins added a pair of assists.

Game 2 is Saturday in Sarnia, Ont.
