COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Blue Jackets have activated goaltender Steve Mason off injured reserve and assigned Dan LaCosta to the club's American Hockey League affiliate in Syracuse.
General manager Scott Howson announced the moves on Friday.
Mason missed three games after he was diagnosed on Jan. 29 with mononucleosis. He leads the NHL in shutouts (7) and goals-against average (2.09) going into Friday's play. The 20-year-old has a 19-2-2 record and a .923 save percentage in 34 games since being called up a month into the season.
In his first two NHL starts, the 22-year-old LaCosta went 2-0 with a 1.54 goals-against average and a .950 save percentage, shutting out Colorado on Saturday night.
