CRANBROOK, B.C. - Steve Da Silva had the game-winning goal and added an assist as the Kootenay Ice dumped the Red Deer Rebels 5-2 in Western Hockey League action Saturday night.

Kootenay (19-12-3-0) got goals from Josh Gionfriddo, with his second, and Dustin Sylvester, with his 16th on a rare short-handed goal with the Ice down two men.

The Ice took a 2-1 lead into the first intermission.

Da Silva fielded his own rebound that had bounced up and behind the net, before banking the game-winner off Rebel goaltender Morgan Clark in the second period.

Arnaud Jacquemet and Andrew Bailey, into an empty-net, added singles.

The Rebels (9-22-4-1) got goals from Scott Doucet and Carter Smith.

Thomas Heemskerk stopped 15 of 17 shots to get the win while Morgan Clark stopped 27 of 31 shots in taking the loss for the Rebels.
