Stephen Stanford makes 17 saves in the third as Blades beat Broncos 3-2 @NHLdotcom

SASKATOON - Steven Stanford made 29 saves, including 17 in the third period, as the Saskatoon Blades held off the Swift Current Broncos 3-2 in Western Hockey League action Tuesday.

With the score tied 2-2 in the second, Saskatoon's Derek Hulak scored the eventual game-winner while short-handed at 15:26. Stanford held the fort from there as the Broncos (23-19-2) outshot the Blades (30-9-4) 17-5 in the third.

Gaelan Patterson gave Saskatoon the lead 33 seconds into the first and Curt Gogol made it 2-0 at 9:45.

Swift Current's Cody Eakin made it 2-1 just 20 seconds into the second before Stepan Novotny tied things for the Broncos at 4:47.

Mark Friesen made 27 saves in defeat for Swift Current.
