Forward Stephen Gionta agreed to a professional tryout contract with the New York Islanders on Monday.
Gionta, 32, had one goal and 10 assists in 82 games last season with the New Jersey Devils. He was third among New Jersey forwards in shorthanded ice time (1:46).
Gionta has played the past four seasons with the Devils and has 15 goals and 35 assists in 270 regular-season NHL games. Gionta had three goals and four assists in 24 Stanley Cup Playoff games to help the Devils reach the Cup Final in 2012.
The Rochester, New York, native was undrafted but signed with Albany of the American Hockey League in 2006 before making his NHL debut during the 2010-11 season.
