Stephane Pilotte steps down as general manager of Val-d'Or Foreurs

VAL-D'OR, Que. (CP) - Val-d'Or Foreurs general manager Stephane Pilotte stepped down Monday after eight seasons with the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League team.

Pilotte, a teacher, met with team brass during training camp to discuss added workloads at his school. The two sides eventually decided to go their separate ways, the league said in a release.

Pilotte helped the Foreurs reach the President Cup final on two occasions. Val-d'Or won the title in 2001.

Head coach Eric Lavigne will take over GM duties. He occupied a similar position with the UQTR Patriotes in the 1990s.
