Steen a late scratch for St. Louis Blues

by Jon Lane

UNIONDALE, N.Y. -- St. Louis Blues forward Alexander Steen was a late scratch Saturday against the New York Islanders after taking part in pregame warm-ups. The team said it was a lower-body issue.

Steen has been dealing with a hand issue after it was hit by a shot in the Blues' 3-2 shootout win last Saturday against the Minnesota Wild. He had precautionary X-rays Monday but played in the Blues' next two games. Blues coach Ken Hitchcock said before the game that some players were banged up and that there could be lineup changes.

Joakim Lindstrom took Steen's place in the Blues' lineup. Patrik Berglund skated on the top line with David Backes and T.J. Oshie.

Steen has five goals and 16 points in 26 games.
