Stastny's overtime goal lifts Avalanche to 4-3 pre-season win over Coyotes @NHLdotcom

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Paul Stastny scored his second goal of the game at 4:13 of overtime to give the Colorado Avalanche a 4-3 win over the Phoenix Coyotes on Monday night.

Stastny converted defenceman Kyle Cumiskey's shot past goaltender David LeNeveu for the winner. Earlier, Stastny gave the Avs a 2-1 lead with a short-handed goal in the second period. Down 3-2 in the final seconds, Ed Jovanovski poked in a goal with one second left to send the game to overtime.

The teams combined to score five goals in the second period. Derek Morris and Mathias Tjarnqvist scored for Phoenix. Marek Svatos, Wojtek Wolski and Stastny scored for Colorado.

Forward David Spina, from Mesa, Ariz., became the first local player to skate for Phoenix in any NHL contest. He played nearly nine minutes and was whistled for a holding minor in the first period.
