NEW YORK (AP) -The Dallas Stars say center Mike Ribeiro will stay overnight at a New York hotel after sustaining a throat injury during a loss to the New York Rangers.

Ribeiro was accidentally struck under his chin by the stick of New York's Christopher Higgins as the players crossed paths at center ice in the second period of the Stars' 5-2 loss Wednesday night. Ribeiro stayed down for several minutes, and was doubled over as he was helped to the dressing room.

He was taken to a hospital to be evaluated, and then released. Ribeiro is expected to fly back to Dallas on Thursday.
