Last 10 -- Ducks (7-2-1), Stars (4-6-0)

Season series -- This is the third of six meetings between the teams this season. Teemu Selanne passed Bobby Hull on the all-time goal-scoring list with his 611th career goal and Bobby Ryan netted a pair when Anaheim earned a 5-2 win in Dallas on Oct. 26. When they met Nov. 12, Ryan again scored twice, the latter an empty-netter, in a 4-2 triumph in Anaheim.

Big story -- The Ducks saw their six-game win streak come end Sunday in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Chicago Blackhawks. The Stars, meanwhile, have struggled recently, going 3-6-0 in their last nine games to drop out of the top eight in the Western Conference.

Team Scope:

Ducks --
During their six-game win streak that catapulted them to the upper part of the Western Conference standings, Anaheim killed 22 of 24 penalties, including 16 straight over four games. The Blackhawks connected twice on four opportunities Sunday, however, to snap that streak. The stingy penalty-killing has improved the Ducks' efficiency rate to 82.4 percent for the season, an improvement over last season's 79.3-percent success rate.

Stars -- The Stars lost all three games on their just-completed three-game road trip, including a 4-2 loss in Anaheim last Friday. The Stars' offense, which once led the league in goals per game, connected for just three goals during the trip. A big reason for that is the fact the Stars went 0-for-10 on the power play in those three games. The Stars had four man-advantage goals in their last win, when they beat Phoenix at home on Nov. 5.

Who's hot -- Anaheim's Corey Perry has points in seven of his last eight games (4 goals, 10 points) and eight goals and 20 points in his last 16 games.

Injury report -- Anaheim defenseman Sheldon Brookbank (hamstring) and center Todd Marchant (upper body) are day-to-day. Defenseman Andy Sutton (hand) and forwards Joffrey Lupul (back) and Kyle Chipchura (concussion) are on injured reserve. … The Stars are fielding a healthy team.

Stat pack -- Stars center Mike Ribeiro doesn't have a goal in 15 games, the longest dry spell of his 11 NHL seasons.

Puck drop -- Despite suffering a head injury after taking a shot right off his mask during a late-afternoon practice Sunday, Anaheim goalie Jonas Hiller started against the Chicago Blackhawks and was admirable in defeat, turning aside 40 shots, including 15 in the second period.
