Stars deal Brunnstrom to Maple Leafs @NHLdotcom
Fabian Brunnstrom, who became the third player in NHL history to record a hat trick in his first game, was traded by the Dallas Stars to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday in exchange for forward Mikhail Stefanovich.

Brunnstrom, originally signed by the Stars as an undrafted free agent, made his debut with the club on Oct. 15, 2008, and scored three goals against the Predators. He joined the Canadiens' Alex Smart and the Nordiques' Real Cloutier as players to score a hat trick in their first games. The Rangers' Derek Stepan joined the club earlier this season.

Brunnstrom finished his rookie season with 17 goals and 29 points in 55 games, but had been limited to 2 goals and 11 points in 44 games as a sophomore.

Stefanovich was a fourth-round pick of the Leafs in the 2008 Entry Draft who is currently playing in Russia.
