Stars continue shakeup, oust Lites as president and hire Texas Rangers' Jeff Cogen @NHLdotcom

DALLAS (AP) -The Dallas Stars have a new president, too.

A day after firing general manager Doug Armstrong, Stars owner Tom Hicks dismissed president Jim Lites and replaced him with Jeff Cogen, the president of his other franchise, baseball's Texas Rangers.

On Tuesday, Armstrong was replaced by interim co-general managers Brett Hull and Les Jackson.

The front-office shakeup occurs after a disappointing 7-7 start that followed three consecutive first-round exits in the playoffs.

Lites was the Stars president since the franchise moved to Dallas from Minnesota in 1993, except for an eight-month stint with the Phoenix Coyotes in 2002. He will move into an expanded role with Hicks Sports Marketing Group, the Stars said in a statement Wednesday.
