Dallas Stars forward Jamie Benn will make his preseason debut Tuesday against the St. Louis Blues.
Benn, who won the Art Ross Trophy last season, has not played since having surgeries on his hips in April and May. He began skating in early July.
"I am excited and ready to get back in the action," Benn told the Stars website. "It will be a little bit of a different feel playing in a real game than in an intrasquad game against your teammates. I am ready to go and excited about tonight."
Benn is expected to skate at left wing on a line with center Tyler Seguin and right wing Patrick Sharp.
"They looked pretty good out there a couple games ago, and I am excited to play with those guys," Benn said. "We are going to try to find some chemistry. It looked like they had, so we are going to see if [Seguin] and I still have it."
Also making his preseason debut is forward Ales Hemsky, who also had offseason hip surgery. He is expected to play at right wing on a line with center Jason Spezza and left wing Mattias Janmark.
"I just hope to see solid play," Stars coach Lindy Ruff said of Benn and Hemsky. "They are anxious to get back in; they've both worked extremely hard and it's a long process. They are going to get inside the game, see how they feel, and we are going to get a good read on them."
