SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) -Joel Lundqvist and Stu Barnes scored early goals, and the Dallas Stars played sterling defense in their second road victory over the San Jose Sharks in three days, 4-2 Thursday night.
Krys Barch scored his first NHL goal in the third period after sitting out most of the second for fighting, and Jere Lehtinen also scored as the Stars swept their miniseries with the Sharks to pull within three points of second-place San Jose in the Pacific Division race.
Marty Turco made 18 saves, and his teammates throttled San Jose's NHL-leading power play for the second straight game. The Stars needed a last-minute tying goal in Tuesday night's shootout victory, but they had less trouble in the rematch after holding the Sharks scoreless in six power plays.
Mark Bell and captain Patrick Marleau scored for the Sharks, who are off to an embarrassing start on a four-game homestand before an eight-game road trip. San Jose has lost four of five for just the second time all season.
