On Tap

For the first time ever, there are 16 games on the NHL schedule Saturday -- including an ABC tripleheader -- 13 with playoff implications.
Carolina Hurricanes at Buffalo Sabres (12:30 p.m. ET; MSG-B, BSSO, ESPN+, SN NOW)
The Hurricanes (50-19-9) are trying to hold onto first in the Metropolitan Division, where they lead the second-place New Jersey Devils by one point, and can clinch home-ice advantage in the Eastern Conference First Round of the playoffs. The Sabres (38-32-7) are six points behind the Florida Panthers and New York Islanders for the first wild into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Eastern Conference. They would be eliminated from playoff contention with a regulation loss to Carolina and wins by the Panthers and Islanders.
Pittsburgh Penguins at Detroit Red Wings (1 p.m. ET; ESPN+, ABC, SN)
The Penguins (39-30-10), who are 5-5-0 in their past 10 games, will try to get back into a wild card spot. They're one point behind the Panthers and Islanders for the first wild card. The Red Wings (35-33-10) were eliminated from playoff contention Thursday.
Vegas Golden Knights at Dallas Stars (3:30 p.m. ET; ESPN+, ABC, TVAS, SN NOW)
The Golden Knights (49-22-8), 7-1-2 in their past 10 games, can clinch first place in the Pacific Division. The Stars (43-21-14) will try to separate themselves from the Colorado Avalanche, who they're tied with for first in the Central. Each is two points ahead of the third-place Minnesota Wild.
Edmonton Oilers at San Jose Sharks (4 p.m. ET; SNW, NBCSCA, ESPN+, SN NOW)
The Oilers (47-23-9) have won six in a row as part of a 12-game point streak (11-0-1) and look to get closer to the Golden Knights, who are three points ahead of them for first in the Pacific. Forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins reached 100 points in a 3-1 win against the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday. He's the third Edmonton player to do so this season, joining Connor McDavid (148 points) and Leon Draisaitl (123). The Sharks are eliminated from playoff contention.
Nashville Predators at Winnipeg Jets (7 p.m. ET; CITY, SNW, BSSO, ESPN+, SN NOW)
This is a fight for the second wild card in the Western Conference. The Jets (43-32-3), who are coming off a 3-1 loss to the Calgary Flames on Wednesday, are tied with the Flames. The Predators (40-30-8), who have won two in a row, are one point behind them, with one game in hand on Calgary.
Florida Panthers at Washington Capitals (7 p.m. ET; NBCSWA, BSFL, ESPN+, SN NOW)
The Panthers (41-31-7) have won five in a row and will try to claim the first wild card for their own. They're currently tied with the Islanders for the spot. The Capitals (34-35-9) have been eliminated from playoff contention.
New York Rangers at Columbus Blue Jackets (7 p.m. ET; BSOH, MSG, ESPN+, SN NOW)
The Rangers (46-21-12), 2-0-2 in their past four games, are looking to make up ground in the Metropolitan, where they're four points behind the second-place Devils and five behind the first-place Hurricanes. Forward Patrick Kane has missed two straight games with a lower-body injury that Rangers coach Gerard Gallant said was "precautionary." The Blue Jackets (24-46-8) are out of playoff contention.
Philadelphia Flyers at New York Islanders (7:30 p.m. ET; MSGSN, NBCSP, ESPN+, SN NOW)
The Islanders (40-30-9), 6-3-1 in their past 10 games, look to jump ahead of the Panthers, with whom they're currently tied for the first wild card. Forward Brock Nelson had his second three-point game of the season (one goal, two assists) when the Islanders defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning 6-1 on Thursday. The Flyers (26-36-13) are eliminated from playoff contention.
St. Louis Blues at Minnesota Wild (8 p.m. ET; BSN, BSMW, ESPN+, SN NOW)
The Wild (44-24-10), who should get forward Kirill Kaprizov back after he missed 13 games because of a lower-body injury, look to end a three-game skid (0-2-1) and stay close to the first-place Avalanche and Stars, who are two points ahead of them in the Central. The Blues (37-35-7) are eliminated from playoff contention.
New Jersey Devils at Boston Bruins (8 p.m. ET; ESPN+, ABC, SN NOW)
The Devils (50-21-8) have won two in a row and will try to take over first in the Metropolitan, where the Hurricanes hold a one-point lead over them. They're four points ahead of the third-place Rangers and can clinch home-ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs. The Bruins (61-12-5) clinched the Presidents' Trophy, awarded to the team with the best record in the regular season, when they defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets 2-1 in overtime Thursday. They can tie the record for most wins in a season (62).
Calgary Flames at Vancouver Canucks (10 p.m. ET; CBC, SN, CITY, TVAS2, ESPN+)
The Flames (37-27-15) have won five of their past six and are looking to take the second wild card from the Jets. The two are currently tied and Winnipeg has a game in hand on Calgary. The Canucks (35-36-7) are eliminated from playoff contention.
Chicago Blackhawks at Seattle Kraken (10 p.m. ET; ROOT-NW, NBCSCH, ESPN+, SN NOW)
The Kraken (44-26-8), who have won three in a row, clinched the first playoff berth in their history with a 4-2 win against the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday. They hold the first wild card in the West and are four points behind the third-place Los Angeles Kings in the Pacific. The Blackhawks (25-47-6) are eliminated from playoff contention.
Colorado Avalanche at Los Angeles Kings (10:30 p.m. ET; BSW, ALT, ESPN+, SN NOW)
The Avalanche (47-24-6) have won three in a row and will look to take first in the Central, where they're tied with the Stars. The Kings (45-24-10), third in the Pacific, have lost two in a row and want to close in on the second-place Oilers, who lead them by three points.
