Stamkos scores four as Sting edges Spitfires 5-4 to take 3-1 lead in series @NHLdotcom

SARNIA, Ont. - Steven Stamkos scored four goals to lead the Sarnia Sting to a 5-4 victory over the visiting Windsor Spitfires in OHL playoff action on Tuesday night.

Sarnia leads the best-of-seven Western Conference quarter-final 3-1 and can advance to the second round with a win Thursday night in Windsor.

Stamkos, who has nine goals so far this post-season, scored two in the first and second periods as the Sting led 2-1 and 5-2 at the intermissions.

Matt Martin also scored for Sarnia, with Justin DiBenedetto contributing assists on all of Stamkos' goals.

Adam Henrique, Jordan Nolan, Greg Nemisz and Joshua Bailey replied for Windsor.

Sting netminder Jakub Kovar made 19 saves, while Andrew Perugini stopped 14 shots for the Spitfires.
