As number is raised to rafters former players and fans recall stellar career

His scoring ability made him an All-Star, his leg muscles made him an internet meme and on Friday, his jersey number in the rafters made him an immortal.

Martin St. Louis, a fan favorite for his diminutive size and penchant for scoring clutch goals, became the first player in Tampa Bay Lightning history to have his number retired.

On Friday, social media was flooded with tributes to St. Louis' careeer. He was a 6-time All-Star, a Hart Memorial Trophy winner and Stanley Cup champion, but former teammates and opponents spoke about what a class act he was during his 16 NHL seasons.
