by Dan Rosen @drosennhl / Senior Writer

BLUES (3-0-0) at RANGERS (1-2-0)

7 p.m. ET; MSG, FS-MW, NHL.TV

The Game

The St. Louis Blues put their perfect start to the season on the line against the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden.

The Blues beat the New York Islanders 3-2 in a shootout at Barclays Center on Monday. The Rangers are coming off a 2-0 win against the Montreal Canadiens at MSG on Sunday.

Rangers defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk will play against the Blues for the first time since they traded him to the Washington Capitals on Feb. 27. Shattenkirk played parts of seven seasons (2011-17) with the Blues.

Blues goalie Carter Hutton will make his first start of the season. He is 2-1-0 with a 1.63 goals-against average and .945 save percentage in three career games against the Rangers.

Players to watch

Blues defenseman Alex Pietrangelo has five points (two goals, three assists) and played a game-high 29:17 against the Islanders.

Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist will make his fourth consecutive start to open the season. He had a 34-save shutout against the Canadiens.

They said it

"This will be three games in less than four days, so we're going to have to find our energy quickly here, probably look at our lineup and see if we need to do anything to get some fresh legs in there." -- Blues coach Mike Yeo

"Time has gone by and in my mind I've been separated from that team [the Blues] already. It's going to be fun. I really just enjoy doing this, enjoy playing against my buddies and trying to come out with the upper hand." -- Shattenkirk

The Rangers assigned rookie center Filip Chytil to Hartford of the American Hockey League on Tuesday, and released forward Andrew Desjardins from his professional tryout contract.

Stat pack

Zibanejad needs a goal against the Blues to become the second player in Rangers history to score in each of the first four games of the season. Nash did it in the 2014-15 season, when he went on to score 42 goals.
