St. Croix has two goals, two assists as Oil Kings dominate Royals with 8-2 win @NHLdotcom

VICTORIA - Michael St. Croix had two goals and two assists for Edmonton as the Oil Kings dominated the Victoria Royals with an 8-2 victory on Tuesday night in Western Hockey League action.

A back and forth first period saw both teams trading scoring chances but heading into the second period Edmonton took control of the game and never looked back.

Thirty-three seconds into the first period Curtis Lazar made it 1-0 Oil Kings for his sixth of the season.

The Royals (10-9-1) answered back on the power play as Zane Jones scored his third of the season to tie the game.

Cody Corbett made it 2-1 with his first ever WHL goal at 17:11 of the first period for the Oil Kings as he one-timed the puck.

Edmonton (11-5-2) padded its lead in the second with goals from St. Croix and Rhett Rachinski to make it 4-1.

Royals? Logan Nelson scored to make it a two-goal game but Edmonton pushed back with goals from Stephane Legault and Kristians Pelss to make it 6-2 heading into the third period.

The Oil Kings continued their scoring way as St. Croix and Legault each scored in the third to complete the rout.

Royals starting goaltender Keith Hamilton made 13 saves before getting pulled in the second period. Jared Rathjen made 14 saves in relief for Victoria, while Laurent Brossoit made 17 saves in the victory.
