Spooner has shootout winner as Peterborough Petes edge Ottawa 4-3 @NHL

OTTAWA - Ryan Spooner was the only scorer in the shootout as the Peterborough Petes edged the Ottawa 67's 4-3 in Ontario Hockey League action Friday night.

Liam Heelis, Christopher Breen and Justin Larson scored in regulation for Peterborough (22-20-3). Jason Missiaen was very busy in the Petes goal, facing 41 shots and then stopping all three shooters in the shootout.

Corey Cowick, Thomas Nesbitt and Tyler Cuma provided the offence for Ottawa (21-17-7), while Chris Perugini had 23 saves.

Cowick scored his fifth goal of the season in just his fourth game for the 67's, and it came with just two seconds to play to force overtime and the eventual shootout.

Last Sunday in Kingston Cowick tied the game with five seconds to play, but the Frontenacs eventually won 5-4 in overtime.

Three times the Petes had a one-goal lead and three times the 67's came back to tie. There was no such magic, however, in the shootout.
