Sparks makes 45 saves as Storm beat Whalers 4-2 in game 1 @NHLdotcom

PLYMOUTH, Mich. - Garret Sparks turned away 45 shots as the Guelph Storm defeated the host Plymouth Whalers 4-2 on Friday in Ontario Hockey League playoff action.

Andrey Pedan, Francis Menard, Jason Dickinson and Brock McGinn each scored for the seventh-seeded Storm.

J.T. Miller and Alex Aleardi scored a goal apiece for the second-seeded Whalers.

Scott Wedgewood stopped 26 shots in a losing effort.

Guelph went 2 for 5 on the power play while Plymouth scored once on five opportunities of their own with the man advantage.

The victory gives the Storm a 1-0 series lead with game two to take place Sunday in Guelph.
