Source: Oilers winger Torres avoids suspension but fined for hit on Moss @NHLdotcom

TORONTO - Edmonton Oilers forward Raffi Torres avoided suspension for his high hit on Calgary Flames winger David Moss but was fined US$2,500, a source told The Canadian Press on Monday.

Torres caught Moss with a blind-side hit that knocked the 23-year-old out of Saturday's 4-1 Flames win with a concussion. Torres was assessed a tripping minor on the play.

League officials reviewed the play and decided the fine, the maximum allowed under the CBA, was sufficient.
