Smith scores three as Prince Albert obliterates Saskatoon 8-2 @NHLdotcom

SASKATOON - Andy Smith scored three goals as the Prince Albert Raiders opened their WHL season Friday night with an 8-2 drubbing of the Saskatoon Blades.

Smith had a pair of first-period goals as the Raiders (1-0-0-0) enjoyed a 4-0 lead through 20 minutes. He completed the hat trick midway through the second period.

Matt Robertson had a goal and three assists to pace Prince Albert, while Justin Bernhardt, Jordan Kochan, Jordan Hickmott and Ryan McDonald added singles. Hickmott, Dustin Cameron and Tomas Voracek chipped in with two assists apiece.

Chris Langkow and Milan Kytnar countered for the Blades (0-1-0-0).

Garrett Zemlak made 35 saves to preserve the win for Prince Albert.

Matthew Krahn was pulled after allowing four first-period goals on 15 shots. Adam Morrison stopped 15 shots over the final two periods.
